| The
purpose of the conference is to study and discuss the human consequences
of industrialisation........... On each occasion the emphasis has
been on selecting the next generation of leaders in industry, trade
unions and public administration, exposing them to the widest possible
aspect of the human problems in industrial communities and encouraging
them to compare and discuss their ideas and reactions. The purpose
of the Conference is to study. There will be no resolutions about
what others should do, there will be no high sounding recommendations.
The intention is simply that, with the experience of the Conference
to guide them, the members will be better informed and better equipped
to make wise decisions and balanced in the interests of the people
for whom they become responsible and the communities in which they
live." |
