Seven Malaysians were chosen to attend the Ninth Commonwealth Study Conference in Australia from 16th October 2003 to 29th October 2003. The Commonwealth is made up of 54 nations of about 1.7 billion people. The conference was attended by 210 delegates from 30 countries taking an active part in the plenary sessions and study tours.

The seven Malaysians who attended the conference were Ms Rasamalar Gnanasundram, Mr. Johan Datuk Samad, Mr. Adrain Jerome Karunakaran, Ms. Vimala Nair, Ms Hanaa Abdullah, Ms Wong Soon Ying and Ms Olivia Amelia Arrais.

Our ex-General Secretary, Mr. A.B. Gomez was an active trade unionist in his hey days. It was during his trade union era did he got entangled with industrial law and actions. Proving there is much more for the industrial activist and lawyers to learn from his experience, his compilation of industrial cases and judgments over the years is a relevant source material to many. COSCAM applauds him for his contribution to the legal profession. He is currently working on his third and fourth volume.
